Sacred river ghat & kund guide
A dip in the Dev Kund, fed by the spring where the Lord appeared to Devala Rishi, and in the river at the ghat below is part of every pilgrimage here.
Spiritual importance
The Puranas describe the kund as a tirtha where the waters of all sacred rivers meet. A bath here before darshan is believed to purify body and mind, and water from the kund is used for every abhishek of the deity.
The river ghat below the temple is the place for the rites of the ancestors (pitru karya). Offerings made here on Amavasya, in Pitru Paksha and on Kartik Purnima are considered especially meritorious.

Snan rules
- Bathe only within the marked bathing area and hold the chains on the steps.
- No soap, shampoo or detergent in the kund or the river; use the showers at the changing rooms.
- Flowers and offerings go into the nirmalya bins, not the water.
- Separate ghats and changing rooms for women; please respect them.
- Photography of bathers is strictly prohibited.
